Precision Awarded Major Infrastructure Deconstruction Project for the City of Commerce

Precision Environmental is proud to announce its selection as the most responsible bidder for the high-profile Deconstruction of the Commerce Refuse-to-Energy Facility (CREA) Project.

On June 23, 2026, the City of Commerce City Council formally awarded Precision Environmental the contract in the amount of $1,362,000 (base bid), plus authorized deconstruction contingencies of up to $204,300 (15% of the contract) for unforeseen conditions. This significant infrastructure project involves the complete deconstruction of a major former refuse-to-energy facility — a critical step in the City’s long-term planning and redevelopment efforts.

Project Significance

Located at 5926 Sheila Street, the CREA facility is a decommissioned industrial refuse-to-energy plant that once played a key role in the City’s waste management and energy recovery operations. The project encompasses full hazardous materials abatement and the systematic removal of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) systems, structural steel, foundations, and footings. Federally funded through a Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grant, this undertaking represents a major public infrastructure initiative with broad implications for environmental cleanup, land reuse, economic revitalization, and sustainable community development in the City of Commerce.

Our Commitment

Precision Environmental will self-perform this complex deconstruction with the highest standards of safety, environmental compliance, and efficiency.

“This is a landmark infrastructure project for the City of Commerce, and we are honored to be trusted with its successful execution. Our team is fully prepared to deliver outstanding results on this important energy facility deconstruction.”— Christopher Ruiz, Vice President, Precision Environmental
